OTRANTO IN LUCE Stone tells the story, light reveals it 11– 27 September 2026
From 11 to 27 September 2026, the historic centre of Otranto will be transformed into a luminous trail, inviting residents and visitors to discover the city’s rich historical, cultural and architectural heritage.
“Otranto in Luce. Stone Tells the Story, Light Reveals It” is a project funded by the Italian Ministry of Culture under the Strategic Plan for Major Cultural Heritage Projects and organized by the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Puglia in partnership with the Municipality of Otranto. It will offer visitors a new way to experience the city’s cultural heritage through video mapping and immersive light installations that bring history to life in a powerful and unexpected way.
The experience will unfold across some of Otranto’s most iconic landmarks: Porta Terra, the Cathedral, the Castle, the Former Church of the Immacolata, Porta a Mare, and the Moat. For seventeen evenings, these historic sites will be transformed into a luminous open-air stage, where the story of the Martyrs of Otranto will come to life through an immersive narrative of light.
The project, conceived by Vincenzo Sofo, is under the artistic direction of French master Bruno Seillier, renowned for his acclaimed international projects that enhance historical and religious heritage through light, transforming it into a powerful medium for storytelling and interpretation.
The experience begins with the memory of the Santi Martiri di Otranto and expands to embrace the city’s history, its Mediterranean vocation and the cultural heritage that has shaped its identity over the centuries.
Otranto in Luce offers a new way of engaging with cultural heritage, where art and technology interact with architecture to create an accessible and immersive experience, highlighting one of the most iconic places in Puglia and the Mediterraneo.
The opening ceremony will take place on 11 September at 9:00 p.m., in the presence of local authorities, institutional representatives and the project’s creative director.

Admission is free.
The installations will be open from 11 to 27 September 2026, every evening from 9:00 p.m. to midnight.
Locations: Cattedrale di Otranto, the former Chiesa dell’Immacolata, Porta Mare and the Fossati.
