MUSEUM SERVICES
In addition to the organization of exhibitions, cultural events and promotional initiatives, in order to meet the needs of heritage enhancement and cultural promotion, each museum is required to offer the following services to the public: access, acceptance, on-site ticketing, guided tours and didactic assistance, consultation of archive materials and fruition of scientific activities.
As required by art. 115 of the Code of Cultural Heritage, the so-called additional services can be managed directly or indirectly by entrusting them to private individuals. The procurement of cultural services does not transfer the entire asset management activity, but only the exercise of some ancillary activities. With the granting of a public cultural service, however, the Administration transfers to the concessionaire the tasks of enhancing and managing the cultural property.
Between 2009 and 2010, the Ministry published and updated the so-called Guidelines on the activation and assignment in concession of services to the public in Italian cultural institutes. The Regional Museums Directorates take care of the definition of agreements with other public and private bodies for the management of common instrumental services for the benefit of visitors.
SERVICE QUALITY ACT
The Service Quality is the act by which the museum presents itself to the public through a concise description of its identity and mission, of the functions and activities it carries out; identifies the services, forms and ways through which users can access them. It therefore performs the dual function of a museum presentation card and a user rights card.
The Charter is a communication and information tool that allows users to know the services offered and to verify that the commitments undertaken are respected, and to express their evaluations also through forms of complaint.
